2010 Burberry Beauty Must-Haves

Burberry is luxury brand that has been around for over a hundred years. The year is 2010 and this worldwide business has been around since 1856. It defines British luxury at it’s finest, bringing in a modest amount of revenue per year. Although Burberry is notorious for creating fashion products, as well as, some of the best accessories in the industry, Burberry recently is known for their beauty products, which makes them even more select. I have decided to narrow down the numerous Burberry beauty products to some of the best must-have products of 2010.

The Summer is here and one is destined to appreciate a great, quality bronzing product. When it comes to a bronzing product, I am somewhat picky. I like my bronzers to be long-lasting, but also pigmented with the option to build color if necessary. I also like my bronzer to look natural and the good news is, Burberry “Warm Glow” Natural Bronzer does just that. The colors are also unbelievable and work with every skin tone out there. Warm Glow No. 01, Copper Glow 02, Nude Glow No. 03, and Summer Glow No. 04. Because I have tan skin, I am a fan of the Summer Glow No. 04, which is the darkest of the four shades. Available for $48 at Nordstrom’s, this product truly demonstrates why Burberry beauty is only beginning.

I have to admit, when it comes to eyeshadow, I am one who looks at the actual contents of the eyeshadow, but also flexible shades/colors that actually do look good on me. If you are looking for a light eyeshadow that is not only pigmented, but gives you the option to build color, you just cannot go wrong with Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow. Available in 20 different shades that range from Taupe Brown No. 07 (which is a light cool brown that would look great as a neutral shade) to Pearl Gray No. 17 (which is a light frosty gray that could also pass as a silver shade, that would be amazing for a dramatic eye look). I own this eyeshadow in Pearl Gray No. 17 and I absolutely love it. It works well when I want to create a smokey eye look. For just $29, this great addition to Burberry definitely proves why it is one of the hottest must-haves of 2010.

Searching for the perfect foundation is like searching for Mr. Right on the internet. Although it seems literally impossible, it does exist. In the case of discovering a great foundation, I truly was impressed with Burberry Sheer Luminous Compact Foundation. For just $55, this foundation is great for all skin types, as well as, skin tones. The shade’s are titled “Trench” and are listed by individual number with Trench No. 01 being the lightest shade and Trench No. 09 being the darkest shade. I like this foundation because it’s effective and has an array of benefits, including it’s water resistance factor and overall long-lasting quality. It’s great for all seasons and definitely possesses a lot of ingredients that work together to create not only wonderful coverage, but feeling too.

One of my favorite products that I have had the opportunity try is definitely Burberry “Lip Glow” Natural Lip Gloss. When shopping at Nordstrom, I was reluctant because I picky about lip gloss and I tend to be quite reluctant about purchasing any lip product, however; in the case of this product, that just wasn’t the case. The texture of this gloss is natural, as my lips feel incredible after application, but what I love most about it is it’s color. It’s sheer and very natural looking. I absolutely love Nude Beige No. 09, as it’s very natural, but possesses enough color to make my lips look amazing. For under $30, you just cannot go wrong with this lip gloss, as it’s a true Burberry Beauty must-have.

2010 Black Friday Gaming Guide - Games and Accessories

The holiday season will soon be upon us, and this means Black Friday is right around the corner. The impossibly low prices on certain items and early opening times make Black Friday the best day to shop for gifts for the holidays. While it’s possible to find deals on Black Friday that can’t be had at any other time, doing so can be very frustrating because of the crowds, the heavy advertising, and the manic atmosphere. I decided to create a list of the best deals on video games, systems, and gaming accessories to help the casual shopper avoid the pandemonium we’ve come to expect. Game retailers such as Toy’s R’ Us, Target, and Kohl’s are offering some of the lowest prices on games and accessories this year, so let’s take a look at some of these great Black Friday deals.

We’ll start with Kohl’s, who will exclusively offer you 30% off all Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS games, a bargain to be sure. In addition, Kohl’s is also offering the chance to save 30% – 50% on ALL video game accessories: that means controllers, chargers, memory cards, everything you’ll need to maximize your gaming fun! Click on the link above and go to ‘Store Locator’ to find a Kohl’s near you.

Next is the Toys R’ Us Big Toy Book, which features a staggering amount of sale items in the gaming department. Specializing in Nintendo products, Toys R’ Us has many sale items, too numerous to list here. Unmatched inventory, lots of great deals, and many easy-to-find locations make Toys R’ Us a priority for any gaming-oriented holiday shopper. The sheer size of their Black Friday sale items list is more than enough reason to check out Toys R’ Us this holiday season, you won’t be disappointed.

Lastly, Target has a few spectacular deals worth mentioning. They will be offering an XBox 360 Bundle, including an XBox 360 game system, 4GB hard drive, and TWO controllers, all for just $239.99! The controllers alone are valued at $59.99 apiece, making this a fantastic deal for anyone wanting to purchase a game system this year. Also, Target is offering two popular games, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2(XB360/PS3) and Super Mario Bros.(Wii), at a $10 discount($49.99), and throwing in a $10 Target gift card FREE! This is a great value, because these two games sell for $59.99 normally, and the Target Gift card can serve as a gift on it’s own, making Target a high priority for shoppers who are looking for gaming deals. Click the link above and go to ‘Find a Store’ for location information.

Now all that’s left is the shopping! Here’s some advice to make things easier on Black Friday. First, always attempt to reserve any items you’re interested in beforehand. This guarantees that the item you want will be in stock, and minimizes the amount of time you have to spend wading through a sea of anxious shoppers. Most stores will allow you to reserve items for a small fee, as little as $5 down. Consider this an investment, the payoff will be well worth it. Reserving also eliminates the need to wake up at 5 AM to secure your item, which is priceless. To avoid the Black Friday chaos altogether, consider ordering your items online, directly from the store. Shopping online is the only way to guarantee your sanity remains intact!

I hope my findings were able to help you, the consumer, narrow down your choices and find the best deals.

2010 Celeb Costume Round-Up, 2011 Unveiling

Which celeb costumes were fab and which were drab? Who was hot and who was not? Let’s find out as we round up the celebrities to see what they wore for Halloween in 2010. In addition, one celeb costume for 2011 will be unveiled.

Holly Madison

Last year, Holly dressed up as what appears to be a sexy sleeping beauty. Holly gets eight stars for her princess costume last year. This year, Holly cranks up the heat and earns 10 stars for her Queen of Hearts costume. Holly blossomed from a princess to a queen since last Halloween.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez dressed up as Katy Perry in her “California Gurls” music video. Selena strutted her stuff in a blue wig, complemented by an ice cream bikini. No picture equals no star rating for Selena. I was able to find Selena dressed in total blue for Perez Hilton’s Blue Ball Bash. Some say she looks like a Katy Perry smurf. I am only giving Selena four stars for this outfit.

Kim Kardashian

Kim transformed into an alluring Red Riding Hood with shoes like that of Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz.” I give Kim nine stars for pulling off a captivating Red Riding Hood. Kim headed to Heidi Klum’s annual Halloween party in New York to celebrate.

Tori Spelling

Tori cast a spell last Halloween and turned herself into an eccentric blue peacock. Her look was complete with blue heels and lips. Tori gets four stars, as I find this costume feathery, not flattering. Tori dressed up for the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation’s 17th Annual Dream Halloween Event, earning her credit for dressing kid friendly.

Molly Sims

Molly models as a black cat. Black whiskers cover her face with a touch of ebony on her nose. Honestly, this costume is plain and boring. Being a model, Molly could have done much better and put more effort into her costume. Molly only earns three stars for this superstitious costume.

AnnaLynne McCord

AnnaLynne got dolled up as the White Queen from Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.” The only thing that wasn’t ivory on this queen was her scarlet lips. AnnaLynne looks like a delicate yet devious snow queen, earning her 10 stars. AnnaLynne celebrated Halloween at Lavo nightclub in Las Vegas with her sister, clothed as Alice.

Christina Milian

Christina went from violet to blue. The day before Halloween she was spotted wearing a violet wig while shopping with her daughter, Violet. No, she didn’t dress up as a smurf, rather an avatar. I give Christina’s avatar costume eight stars.

Which celeb costume did you find the most fabulous? My fave was AnnaLynn as The White Queen. I will even go as far as to say that AnnaLynn looked better than Anne Hathaway, who played the white queen in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.”

We’ve seen an array of colors from red, blue, black and white. Which color will you dress up in for Halloween night? If celebrities can go all out for Halloween, we can too.

2010 Cardboard Boat Regatta at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor on May 1

River Legacy Parks’ 21st annual Cardboard Boat Regatta hits the waters at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor on May 1, 2010. A fun fundraising event, the Cardboard Boat Regatta has races for all ages, boat-building skills, and sailing experience, as well as other events sure to entertain everyone.

Amateur boat builders are challenged to design a boat of any kind, build it using only corrugated cardboard, and then put it into the water and race it against other cardboard boats designed and built by amateurs.

There’s more to cardboard boat racing than meets the eye. Cardboard boat design and building videos can be rented from River Legacy Parks for those who have no idea where or how to start, or who want to perfect their technique, and improve their chances for crossing the finish line first.

Designers and builders who want to race in the Cardboard Boat Regatta, but are short on time or space to build their boat ahead of time, can take part in the Class III build-on-site boats. Participants are given two hours, three sheets of cardboard, two rolls of duct tape, two sheets of plastic, a pencil, yardstick and box cutter. Cost for this is $50 and includes all materials and race entry fees.

For home builders, five sheets of corrugated cardboard, sufficient to build a boat, as well as starter supplies and basic instructions, can be purchased at River Legacy Parks for $125.

Cardboard boat races for Class III boats will be in the wave pool at Hurricane Harbor, with the winning team receiving a trophy. A trophy will also be awarded to the winner of the High School Challenge, which pits local high schools against each other.

Children aged 4-12 will be able to race in the Mini-Boat Regatta. This regatta features children-sized pinewood sailboats traveling along a rain gutter, powered by the wind of the children’s breath.

Not limited to merely the racing of cardboard boats, the River Legacy Parks Cardboard Boat Regatta also features rubber whales racing down the Lazy River for prizes, and the Regatta Corporate Challenge, in which companies compete against each other in boat races, tug-of-war, and/or volleyball.

Entry fees for the Cardboard Boat Regatta are determined by crew size. Each crew member receives 2 admission tickets to Hurricane Harbor. A $5 discount will apply to registrations received prior to April 5, 2010.

Guppy Boat, 1 or 2 crew members, $50.

Dolphin Boat, 3 to 5 crew members, $60.

Whale Boat, 6 to 10 crew members, $80.

Youth races at the Cardboard Boat Regatta begin around 9 am; adult races and activities begin at noon.

Whether you’re a cardboard boat designer, racer, or crew member, a boat enthusiast, someone looking for a fun-filled day, a supporter of River Legacy Parks, or all of these, the Cardboard Boat Regatta has something for you.

2010 Alaska Senate Seat: Three-Way Race Has Turned into Battle Between Murkowski, Miller

Alaska’s race for the U.S. Senate is an interesting one. Unlike most other states, there are three major candidates: Democrat Scott McAdams, Republican Joe Miller, and in a political twist, incumbent Lisa Murkowski, who is running as a write-in candidate.

McAdams started his campaign at such a disadvantage in both fundraising and support that it is unlikely he’ll make much of a dent in this race. Incumbent Murkowski lost the primary to Miller, but she is making such a strong showing as a write-in candidate that she is actually within striking distance of her party rival. What looked at first like a surefire win for Miller is now going to go down to the wire.

Candidates for Senator of Alaska (six-year term)

Candidate: Joe Miller

Party: Republican

Political experience: Miller served as a United States Magistrate Judge from 2002 to 2004. He campaigned for the Alaska House of Representatives in 2004, but lost to the incumbent.

Professional experience: Miller was a tank platoon leader in the first Gulf War. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1992 and from the U.S Army Reserves in 1997. He has been an attorney since 1995, and he currently owns his own law practice in Fairbanks.

Key issues: Miller focuses on his website on the limitation of the powers of the federal government to what he calls “constitutional” levels. He heavily opposes cap and trade policies to offset energy costs, and he is in favor of immediately repealing the federal health care reform.

Endorsements: Miller is endorsed by the FreedomWorks PAC, many Tea Party politicians and Sen. John McCain, among others.

Chances of winning the seat: It’s a toss-up. While McAdams has chipped away at his lead, this race is really between Miller and Murkowski. Murkowski has gone on the attack to portray Miller as dishonest and possibly unethical, and it has worked for her. Now that Rasmussen and other outlets show them in a tie, expect to see Miller to continue to counter-attack by painting Murkowski as part of the reason that Alaska isn’t doing well economically, and to imply that she’s a supporter of unpopular Democratic policies.

Candidate: Scott McAdams

Party: Democrat

Political experience: McAdams is the current mayor of Sitka, Alaska, having been elected to the post in 2008. He served on the Sitka School Board from 2002 to 2008.

Professional experience: An educator, McAdams is currently on leave from his post as director of Sitka Community Schools while he campaigns for the U.S. Senate. He was previously also a commercial fisherman.

Key issues: McAdams focuses on his website on boosting the economy through better educational systems and wise use of resources. He wants to strengthen Alaska’s colleges and universities, as well as training and technical programs. He also wants to develop Alaska’s ability to be a hub for renewable energy resources.

Endorsements: McAdams is endorsed by the AFL-CIO, the American Federation of Teachers and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, among others.

Chances of winning the seat: He has a small chance. McAdams is campaigning as a Democrat in a heavily Republican-leaning state. He also had the added disadvantage of being far behind his opponents in fund raising and public support. While McAdams is polling in the double digits like his opponents, this race is between Murkowski and Miller. Look for McAdams to spend the next two weeks trying to portray his opponents as being out-of-touch with Alaskans to gain much-needed ground.

Candidate: Lisa Murkowski

Party: Republican (write-in candidate)

Political experience: Murkowski is the current incumbent of this U.S. Senate seat, a position she has held since she was appointed to it as replacement senator in 2002 by her father, then-Gov. Frank Murkowski. She was a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from 2000 to 2002, serving the 18th District, and from 1998 to 2000, serving the 14th District.

Professional experience: An attorney, Murkowski first worked in the Anchorage District Court Clerk’s office from 1987 to 1989. She worked in a private practice from 1989 to 1998, when she won her first political post in the Alaska House of Representatives.

Key issues: The first three issues Murkowski tackles on her website are the economy, fiscal conservatism and the Second Amendment. She wants to boost the economy by extending the 2001 income tax credit and investing in the domestic-energy sector. She is a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights, and she has worked in the past to eliminate the firearms bans in National Parks and large cities like Chicago.

Endorsements: Murkowski is endorsed by the NEA, the United Fishermen of Alaska and the Marine Conservation Alliance, among others.

Chances of keeping her seat: This race is now a dead heat between her and Joe Miller, who defeated her to win the Republican primary. She needs to grab more of Miller’s supporters in order to keep her seat, so look for her to continue to paint him as dishonest and possibly corrupt.

Key Differences between Joe Miller, Scott McAdams and Lisa Murkowski

Jobs: Miller wants to encourage job creation by limiting the federal government’s involvement and scaling back its powers, ceding more control to individual states. Murkowski also wants to reduce the influence of the federal government, with a focus on decreasing costs for small businesses. McAdams also believes that the key to job creation is small business, and he wants to focus on business incentives and tax cuts to make running those businesses easier.

Health care: Murkowski opposes the federal health care reform as a whole, but she supports certain aspects like prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions or placing caps on how much they will pay to treat a specific health problem. McAdams is focusing on the difficulty some Alaskans experience with finding health care at all, due to doctor shortages in the state. He wants to invest in programs like Denali Kidcare and Medicare expansion for seniors. Miller opposes the federal health care reform and wants to repeal it to start over. He favors a market-based system that he believes will lower costs by encouraging competition.

Education: McAdams is very focused on education, and he wants to streamline No Child Left Behind to give Alaska more individual control over its schools. He wants to increase funding for special-needs programs and invest more into technical training programs and Alaska’s colleges and universities. Miller wants to reduce the influence of federal government across the board, including in the educational system, starting with the Department of Education itself. Murkowski is a proponent of No Child Left Behind, but wants to reshape to fit the needs of individual states. She is also a supporter of Native language immersion programs and early-education initiatives like Head Start.

2004 Results: Murkowski defeated Democrat Tony Knowles, 48.58 percent to 45.55 percent.

Demographics: According to the U.S. Census, 65.8 percent of the state is white, 13.1 percent American Indian or Alaska Native, 5.8 percent Hispanic, 4.5 percent Asian and 3.2 percent black.

2010 AFC Championship Game Time and Location Set

The 2010 AFC Championship Game time and location has been set. The 2010 AFC Championship Game time will be 12:00 P.M. PST (3:00 P.M. EST) on Sunday, January 24th. The Indianapolis Colts earned the right to host the 2010 AFC Championship game by knocking off the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night, and will see their game aired on CBS next weekend. The Indianapolis Colts came into the 2010 NFL Playoffs with the best record in football, and will host one more playoff game in this post season. Their opponent will be either the New York Jets or San Diego, depending on who wins the other Sunday AFC Divisional Playoff game.

The Indianapolis Colts finished the regular season at 14-2, and there was a lot of talk about them possibly being a cold team entering the playoffs because of the way they finished the 2009 regular season. After the Indianapolis Colts clinched the #1 seed throughout the playoffs in week 15, their head coach took out the starters mid-way through their week 16 game. They ended up losing that one, and then lost again in week 17 as the starters were kept out of most of the game. Then the Colts had a week off because of their first round bye, and it was unknown whether they would be able to come out strong on Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens. Well they could have been better on offense, but the Colts defense really clamped down on both the running and passing game for the Ravens.

In a game that many thought could be more competitive, the Indianapolis Colts beat the Baltimore Ravens 20 to 3 on Saturday night. It sends the Indianapolis Colts to yet another AFC Championship Game, with the team and their fans hoping that this year can duplicate the effort that won them the Super Bowl just a few years ago. Peyton Manning won his fourth NFL MVP in 2009, and seems to still be at the top of his game, despite all of the time off at the end of the regular season. These are the playoffs though, and nobody should have counted out these Colts and their heart on both sides of the ball. Now the Colts get to host the winner of the Jets vs. Chargers on Sunday for the right to play in the 2010 Super Bowl.

The 2010 AFC Championship Games is Indianapolis vs. New York or San Diego at 12:00 P.M. PST (3:00 P.M. EST) on Sunday, January 24th. The telecast will be on CBS.

2010 Counter Strike Update Review: Same Strike, Different Day?

Oh Counter Strike (CS), how many lives have you consumed? I mean that seriously, how many peoples lives have been consumed by this game? While an exact number will probably never be known, Im pretty sure we can say its been a lot. And with the release of the new CS update just coming out, it appears that CS will not be relinquishing its iron grip on its players any time soon.

While the principles of the CS gameplay remain unchanged by this new update, there have been a few modifications that will be directly noticed by the player. A full list of the changes implemented can be found on the steam website, here. But the full list aside, lets look at the changes that will most likely be noticed by the everyday players:

Graphics
While the CS graphics have been updated, don’t expect them to be mind blowing or anything, though they do make the game some what prettier. The environments have been updated and do look more realistic than before. But the environments aren’t the only area of graphics upgrades, the weapons now have better details and effects than previously. Other noticable upgrades can be seen in the flashlight effects, and improved HDR.

Gameplay
Here is really where most of the changes will most likely noticed in a sense. What I mean by this, is that while the gameplay remains unchanged, several features have been introduced into the core gameplay. Achievements are now present, adding new challenges for players to complete, but also allowing for more bragging rights.

Better stat tracking has also been added, as well as a MVP (most valuable player) system, which showcases who the MVP was of the last game (thus allowing you to channel your rage more efficiently than before). Following in the steps of other games, a Domination and Revenge system has also been implemented (now you know which player to avoid, or at least yell slurs at).

System
There are also several features which have been added to make CS more stable than before, these mostly include fixing things like console commands that would cause game crashes. Also fixed were some strange glitches, for example awarding points after the round was over for the bomb detonating or not giving credit to players when they shot and grenade someone.

One thing to note is that the new graphical updates will put more strain on your computer than before, so keep that in mind if your game isn’t running a smoothly as before. However, to make up for this, CS now supports multi core rendering support, which is nice for those of us with awesome computers (not me).

Conclusion
So is this new update anything major to write home about? Not really, while it does make some modifications to the gameplay and whatnot, it really doesn’t change the core gameplay. But thats a good thing, the gameplay is why we fell in love with CS in the first place. So look at this way, its the same CS as ever, but now offers more features and goals (achievements) to aim for.

So go out and enjoy the classic CS gameplay with its new and more streamlined features, and don’t forget: to live, love, and rage quit.
