5 Dates that Won't Cost You a Dime

So your girlfriend is complaining that you never take her out anymore. You tell her that it’s because you don’t have any money and she says that you don’t love her. You are in a predicament. How can you show your sweetie a good time on a dime? Put that dime away my friend because I have 5 date ideas that won’t cost you a thing.

1. Pack a picnic. Surprise your sweetie with a picnic lunch at a nearby park. Take a stroll, fly a kite, bring a frisbee…the possibilities are endless. Be sure to check the weather forecast, and pack some wet naps.

2. Hang out at Borders or Barnes and Noble. This might be kind of a hard sell, but it’s actually lots of fun. Thumb through some interesting books or magazines. Visit the children’s section and reminisce about some of your favorite childhood reads. Mosey on over to the music section and sample some new music, or better yet, listen to something romantic and tell her that it reminds you of her!

3. Visit open houses. Is there a neighborhood that she particularly likes, or a house that you’d like to see the inside of? Satisfy the inner voyeur! Check your local paper for listings or simply get in the car on a Sunday afternoon and go! Be sure to use an alias when you sign in to avoid unwanted calls from real-estate agents.

4. Go to a museum. Many museums have days set aside that are free to the public. As an added bonus, particularly large museums can be spread out over the course of a couple of dates and with new exhibits coming and going, you can frequent the same museum several times a year and have a different experience each time. Do a Google search for museums in your area, then check their websites for admission information.

5. Get your portrait taken. The Picture People have a running promotion that offers a free 8×10 or 10×13 portrait with no sitting fee. Get prettied up and get ready to capture some memories. Try a classic pose, or be silly. You’ll have plenty of great shots to choose from, but remember, only one is free! Visit to print your coupon.

So before you suggest going “dutch” and ruin any chance that you have of a future together, try one of these free date ideas. At zero cost to you, there’s nothing to lose!

5 Decorating Mistakes You Should Avoid

Here are a look at 5 common decorating mistakes we have all made at one time or another. Decorating new home or apartment will be so much easier when you know some simple decorating mistakes to avoid.

Decorating Mistakes #1: All Furniture Against the Wall

One of the worst decorating mistakes you can make is to pres all of your furniture in a room against the wall. While in a small bedroom pressing or placing furniture against the wall may be the only option, in a larger space like the family room or a den, you should try to avoid this.

Many people think that placing furniture against the wall will make a small room appear larger. This is false. Pull the furniture away from the wall to create depth and the appearance for more room.

Whether you try your furniture placed in the middle of the room, at and angle, or simple pull it about 6 inches away from the wall, you will be amazed at the difference this can make.

Decorating Mistakes #2: Matching Fabrics Throughout

If you want a custom interior designer look in your home, one of the worst decorating mistakes you can make is to have all matching fabric. Specifically in a bedroom, people will often match the bedspread to the drapes to the pillows.

This much of any one kind of fabric can be dull, boring, and overwhelming all at once. You can create visual interesting using fabrics throughout a room that coordinate or simple flow together.

Using a variety of fabrics will create new textures in a room, look more custom, and really make your room look like an interior designer gave you advise.

Decorating Mistakes #3: Covering all Wall Space

Many people make the simple decorating mistake in their home of covering every bit of open wall space in the home. This decorating mistake can be as simple as having furniture lining the walls or even pictures and artwork covering every bit of upper wall space.

Avoid this decorating mistake by creating open areas of wall and floor for the eye to rest.

Decorating Mistakes #4: All Matching Furniture

One of my leave favorite decorating mistakes is when people buy all matching furniture. Just because you can find matching coffee tables, side tables, and sofa tables in package does not mean you have to buy it. There is no law! In fact, there should be a law against matching sets of furniture.

One of the quickest ways to make your home look like a hotel is to use all matching furniture. Try remaking matching furniture by painting it, swapping it with family and friends, or simply selling it to have money to buy some new furniture to break up the hotel look.

Decorating Mistakes #5: Beige Nightmare

Ok, I bet this one speaks for itself. There is no need to have a million shade of beige in a room with no color! The overuse of beige screams hotel room!

Try leaving the walls beige and adding a colorful slip cover to the couch. You will love it!

5 Delicious Cottage Cheese Recipes

Cottage Cheese. What more can you say? Its delicious, its good for you, and there is even a Diet dedicated to it.

So, without further adue, lets look at 5 ways you can enjoy your Cottage Cheese

Tomato Cottage Cheese

This one is so delicous, I could eat mountains of it.

What you’ll need from the store:
-Fresh Tomatoes
-Fresh Onion

Depending on how much cottage cheese you have, will determine how many tomatoes or how much onion to put in. For the normal small container of cottage cheese, I would put in 1 tomato and half an onion. Either way, the only thing you have to do is chop your onion up into little tiny pieces, than chop your tomato into small pieces and throw them both into the cottage cheese. Than you add in a little salt and pepper to taste, stir it up good, and gobble it down!

Sour Cream and Onion Cottage Cheese

Are you a fan of Sour Cream and Onion dips or chips? I love them! That how I came up with this bright idea.

What you’ll need from the store:
-Sour Cream
-Fresh Chives
-Fresh Onion
-A Little Mayo

Take your onion and chop it into little tiny pieces. Than take your chives and do the same. Mix them into your cottage cheese thoroughly. Than get out your sour cream and take a couple of spoonfuls and add it to your mixture. Becareful with the sour cream though. If you get to much in there it will taste funny. Its better to add a small amount first and then taste, before adding more. Take a small spoonful of your mayo and add it to the mixture. Stir these ingredients up very very well. Than eat!

BTW – This also make a great dip!

Pineapple Cottage Cheese

this is a really good one, and a classic in my family.

What you’ll need from the store:
-Canned Pineable Chunks in Juice

What you want to do it use a fork to pull out the pineapple from the can and then place it into the cottage cheese. This will keep a bunch of the pineapple juice in the fruit. Mix it in well. Than, if your like me and you like that pineapple flavor, pour just a hint more of it on top and mix it in. Than eat!

Peaches and Cream

Ok, so there’s no real cream in this recipe, but its still creamy, dreamy and delicious!

What you’ll need from the store:
-Fresh Canned Peaches

Most canned peaches come in pre-cut slices. You will want to cut them up a little more into bite sized pieces, than mix them into your cottage cheese. Thats it! Eat it you silly person!

If you want a real sensation, add a little sugar to it!

Cottage Cheese Pasta

Ok, to save time I am not going to go through a recipe here. This is because cottage cheese can go into any of your favorite pasta recipes, as long as you are using a tomato based sauce. You can put it in your Lasanga, manicotti, or spaghettii. What ever feels good at the time. Just try it out! You’ll love it!

Well, I hope you will go out and try these recipes, they are delicious and good for you!

5 Cryptids that Are Likely to Be Discovered

For years, I have been an avid follower and when I can researcher of crypto zoology. The discovery of the unknown has been a drive that has pushed man since we first learned to stand upright. Recently, a friend picked up a notebook that keeps my cryptid notes and then asked me a very interesting question. She asked me of all the cryptids, which ones do I think most likely exist. First off, if you’re looking for me to say that I think a dinosaur swims in Loch Ness or that an 8 foot ape walks through the woods of the northwestern United States then you’re in the wrong place. To those that don’t believe in any cyptids, I say that the panda bear, coelacanth and the okapi are all very large cryptids that have all been discovered in the 20th Century. Here are the cryptids that I believe are most likely to exist and scientific evidence that led me to these conclusions.

5. Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger)

The first thought on why this cryptid may still be around is due to the fact that it was believed to have gone extinct less than 100 years ago. In fact there are still people alive who saw the Thylacine before it’s purported 1936 extinction date. What gives this cryptid such a strong shot at existence is the many eyewitness accounts. I know that many of you are saying that Bigfoot has a lot of witnesses too, but the difference here is that some of these eyewitnesses were around before they were labeled as extinct. Also, hairs have been found as recently as 20 years ago that DNA testing proved belonged to the Thylacine. The combination of DNA evidence, eyewitness testimony and an extinction date in the 20th Century all give strength to the existence of the Tasmanian tiger.

4. Bergman’s Bear (God Bear)

Basically this is a much larger version of the Grizzly Bear. This is possible because of the discovery that brown bears and polar bears are mating in the wild. When you get cross breeding you can get some very large results like the Liger which is much larger than its Lion and Tiger parents. Also, there have been reports freakishly large bears. In 2010, 2 hunters in Alberta shot and killed a bear that weighed an estimated 1300 pounds and stood approximately 11 feet tall. The largest Grizzlies top the scale at around 900 pounds and usually don’t get taller than 8 feet. Also in Siberia, they have reported that Bears have been known to freakishly large. Furthermore, zoologist Stan Bergman examined a dead bear and identified it as a different species from the brown bears of the area.

3. Eastern Cougar

Of all the cryptids on this list, I think this one will be the first to be confirmed, but I don’t think it is what most people say. They call it a vampire like feline. Well when you kill anything and it sits long enough, the blood will drain. As for the feline part, there have been documented stories of large predatory cats now existing in the southeastern United States. In fact, the TV show Monsterquest set up motion activated camera traps and got pictures of what appears to be a Mountain Lion in North Carolina which is ground zero for this cryptid. Another claim is that it is a black cat and there are confirmed reports of black panthers that have escaped. If a few of these cats found and mated with mountain lions then you would have a sustained blood line with plenty of food in the form of deer, rabbits, raccoons, squirrels and other mammals.

2. Kraken

When you consider the fact that well over half of the oceans are unexplored, you have to wonder what we will find when we can get that deep. We have already confirmed the existence of the giant squid, but I believe the Kraken will be of a species that is even bigger. The proof comes from whales. We have discovered whales with very huge sucker wounds on the sides of them that are much larger than any we have seen on recovered squid carcasses. In addition to this, there are hundreds of years of reports from sailors through the centuries.

1. Sea Serpents

This one is kind of a cheat. If you look at all the old hand drawn pictures of sea serpents you will see that they look very similar. Now look at a picture of the Oarfish. These fish can grow to be over 30 feet long and look incredibly similar to picture of these serpents. Now consider that these fish only live in the depths of the ocean and are so rare that there are only a handful of pictures and videos of them. Now ask yourself what else is down there.

5 Cute Things You Shouldn't Be Teaching Your Puppy

Puppies, along with kittens and babies, are one of those things guaranteed to make anyone smile. When you first get your cute little puppy it can do no wrong. Everything is adorable, and you pick it up to give it a hug, and tell it how cute it is. This is fine for the first few days, but eventually that cute little puppy is going to grow up. It is still going to think it is adorable and that you will give it a hug the next time it eats your favorite shoe. These cute habits will eventually be something you regret having taught your puppy.

Puppy Kisses

Everyone loves picking up the tiny little puppy, making funny little noises, and puckering up their lips for puppy kisses. It is encouraged by a lot of people when they first get their puppy, but this is one thing you don’t want your grown puppy to be doing. How often do you see people asking for “kisses” from the big Labrador with the waggy tail? Most people prefer not to have dog slobber all over them as they first walk through the door. Little kids are especially vulnerable to these big doggy kisses because they are at eye level and usually get a thorough face cleaning.

Teaching Them to “Jump Up”

Often times a puppy is taught to leap into someone’s arms or jump up and put their paws on you. This is as cute as teaching them to shake until that puppy gets a little bigger and jumps up on your eighty year old grandmother. Teaching a puppy to jump up at all is a bad practice, but for larger dog breeds this can actually be dangerous and should be discouraged from an early age.

Letting them onto your furniture

This depends completely upon the owners and the furniture as to whether or not you allow your dogs to be on the couch, however, there are a few downfalls to keep in mind. Dogs can actually unknowingly destroy your furniture. When jumping up their claws may accidentally scratch the upholstery causing unsightly looking furnishings. Puppies may also have accidents on your favorite arm chair causing a few more problems in the upholstery department. Dogs also tend to shed a lot and it only gets worse as they get older. If you don’t like going to work with hair on your jacket you may want to rethink the puppy furniture policy.

Scratching at the door

When you let the puppy outside to run around the yard it will probably come back and start whining and scratching on the door to get your attention. This is good because it is trying to communicate with you, but can be hard on your door. Its claws can scratch the paint, or even the wood, ruining the finish or the screen. It may even, eventually, have to be replaced if the damage is so extreme that the door no longer seals. If you catch your puppy doing this firmly tell them no and encourage them to simply whine or wait for you to come get them.

Feeding your puppy with “People Food”

This is something that everyone has been guilty of at least a time or two. It is hard not to share a little piece of chicken with your cute little puppy when it is looking up at you with those big puppy eyes. In the end it will be worth it though if your puppy learns that it isn’t supposed to beg for food. Having your dog beg at peoples feet at the dinner table is simply annoying, but if you have got a more mischievous one, he may take it that he may help himself and start stealing food directly from the table. This is definitely something you don’t want to be teaching your puppy. If those puppy eyes are too much you can simply feed them scraps afterwards by placing them in their dog dish.

5 Dos and Don'ts of Website Design

When it comes to your website, how long you keep a visitor and if you are able to sell to that visitor may depend on how well your website is designed. Is your site flashy and crowded with advertisements? How easy is your site to navigate? What colors are used on your site? How long does it take your site to load? All these things have an effect on how long your visitors stay on your site. A website that is not well designed will definitely have and impact on your profit.

1) Do not use splash pages. Splash pages are the first pages you see when you arrive at a website. They normally have a very beautiful image with words like “welcome” or “click here to enter”. In fact, they are just that — pretty vases with no real purpose. Do not let your visitors have a reason to click on the “back” button. Give them the value of your site up front without the splash page.

2) Do not use excessive banner advertisements. Even the least net savvy people have trained themselves to ignore banner advertisements so you will be wasting valuable website real estate. Instead, provide more valuable content and weave relevant affiliate links into your content, and let your visitors feel that they want to buy instead of being pushed to buy.

3) Have a simple and clear navigation. You have to provide a simple and very straightforward navigation menu so that even a young child will know how to use it. Stay away from complicated Flash based menus or multi-tiered dropdown menus. If your visitors don’t know how to navigate, they will leave your site.

4) Have a clear indication of where the user is. When visitors are deeply engrossed in browsing your site, you will want to make sure they know which part of the site they are in at that moment. That way, they will be able to browse relevant information or navigate to any section of the site easily. Don’t confuse your visitors because confusion means they are on their way somewhere else to get the information they need.

5) Avoid using audio on your site. If your visitor is going to stay a long time at your site, reading your content, you will want to make sure they’re not annoyed by some audio looping over and over on your website. If you insist on adding audio, make sure they have some control over it, such as; being able to turn it down or off.

How your website performs and appears to your visitors will play a big part in the success of your site. Less is more when it comes to websites. Visitors want to be able to navigate while at the same time they want to feel comfortable and not overwhelmed. A professional web design will give your visitors both.
