10 Natural Remedies for High Blood Pressure or Hypertension!

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a serious pre-curser to heart disease if left untreated. The 2010 statistics released by the American Heart Association claim that 74.5 million people in the United States alone suffer from this condition. Depending on the severity of your blood pressure you might be able to lower your blood pressure with simple changes in diet, exercise or some of the natural remedies to follow. For severe cases and/or if no positive change is recorded visit your Doctor for treatment.

To understand what constitutes normal, hypertension and severe high blood pressure, please take a look at the following numbers.


Normal blood pressure: 120/80 or lower.


Hypertension: 120 – 130 / 80-90


High blood pressure: 140 / 90


The following natural remedies are advisable for the range of hypertension only!


# 1 Dandelion!


Dandelion Leaf can be used as a tincture or in a tea. This natural diuretic which also is a natural source of potassium helps reduce blood volume which in turn helps reduce blood pressure. If you happen to grow Dandelion in your backyard you may use it for your tea, but only if it has not been sprayed with any form of pesticides.


To brew a Dandelion Tea use 1 Tablespoon of Dandelion leaf to 1 cup of boiling water. Be sure to steep for several minutes.


WARNING: Do not use Dandelion if you take any prescribed blood pressure medication!


#2 Hawthorne!


Hawthorne has been used to aid heart disease treatment via improved oxygenation since the first century. Hawthorne is a mild diuretic. The improved oxygenation caused by the intake of Hawthorne leads to increased energy, blood flow through the coronary arteries and decreased plaque build up in the arteries. According to medical studies Hawthorne is safe to use for most people. This may be used as tinctures, teas and capsules.


#3 Fish Oil!


Omega-3 fatty acids found in cold water fish like salmon, tuna, mackerel, and halibut is excellent in the aid of increased immune system, thinning of blood and decreased inflammations. If you don’t like eating fish you can reap the same benefits by the intake of 500 of 1000 milligram of fish oil per day! It is recommended that you include one


Vitamin E tablet per day if taking fish oil to gain the same benefits as eating fish.


WARNING: If you already take blood thinners, do not take fish oil without a doctors approval!


#4 Garlic!


This is probably one of the widest known prevention or treatment aid for hypertension. You may intake garlic capsules or a tincture.


#5 Watermelon Seeds & khas khas


Create a mixture of equals part of well ground watermelon seeds and khas khas. Best taken as one teaspoon at bedtime or can be taken in the morning on an empty stomach.


#6 Grapefruit!


Not only is Grapefruit a wonderful aid in weight loss, but is also great as aid for toning up arteries and lowering blood pressure due to the Vitamin P contained in Grapefruit.


#7 Onion Juice and Honey!


Make a tonic of equal measures onion juice and honey. Mix well and take 2 tablespoons twice daily for a simple and natural way to lower your blood pressure.


#8 Enjoy a baked Potatoe!


Go ahead have the baked potatoe next time with your dinner, but hold the fattening toppings or at least go easy on them.


#9 Curry and Lime juice drink!


A tip from our friends in India is a juice created by seeping 25 to 30 curry leaves in a cup of water. Strain carefully and add lime juice. Drink as a breakfast drink.


#10 Cayenne Pepper!


A little stressed out and seeing an increase of blood pressure? Mix one teaspoon of cayenne pepper with a half a cup of warm water. Drink up for relieve!
